Departure

Under mooncast shadows and shining stars
 ... we do not sleep
 Now before the heaving vastness of unbroken blue
 ... I might find eternal sleep
 And with these words, I surrender
 And bid you farewell
 In these tumbling waters unending
 Our hardships end at last
 And with these wails of lament
 A mournful song for our suffering
 The losses we endured for so long
 In endless agonizing pain
 And with these cries of grief
 I'm overcome with regret
 Unbearable, overwhelming
 Take me from this hopeless, barren place
 And through this final departure
 I leave this mortal shell
 No longer in struggle, no further in doubt
 An awakening to peaceful death
 And with these final tears
 My torment has ended
 I embrace my final journey
 Towards the stars
 In the twilight despair is all around us
 ... there is no peace
