Waiting

I fall to the ground
 And lay on the field
 And wait for death to to take me
 Away from here
 My heart is beating in my chest
 Like the drums of war drawing near
 Bringing winds of change to us all
 This mortal flesh will wither as my soul soars through the ages
 I am one with the land and the paths I've walked my whole life
 Ancient land beneath my feet, guide me past the veil of mortality
 Into a promised sleep where I can rest
 The land beyond awaits me now
 The sun falls beneath the trees
 Autumn leaves line my path
 And mountains carry me
 I will become one with the land
 From the soil to sea
 I am waiting here, waiting for the end to comfort me
 Will we be remembered
 Will our deeds ring through the ages
 Or will our defeat spell the end of our kind
 With the strength of will, an oath made from youth
 To carry our way of life like a torch that never dies
 These hills are part of me
 These mountains and rivers that run so deep
 Carrying our history
 I feel a longing in my soul
 To return to better days
 But night has fallen and taken the dawn away
 The land beyond awaits me now
 The sun falls behind the trees
 Autumn leaves line my path
 And mountains carry me
 I will become one with the land

 Crows circle overhead, I feel a chill in the air
 My breathe becomes laboured
 I see beyond this life to a place where sun still shines
 My soul is now free
 I'll run wild with the deer with a beating heart so clear
 Like the strength of this place we will not fail
 Stand outside in the morning breeze the sounds of pipes carry on the wind
