The Guardian Of Forever

I traveled to the North
 Where Aurora light the dawn
 Danced among the Eskimos
 And joined the whales in song
 I wandered South
 To the undiscovered land
 The last remaining wilderness
 Unspoiled by hands of man
 You're staring right through
 Like my heart is made of glass
 That's all I am to you
 A shadow that you pass
 I journeyed to the East
 Arms wide to the rising sun
 To the shrines of soul & spirit
 Where head & heart are one
 I've seen the West
 Where science rules the day
 And Gods of awe & wonder
 Have withered & gone away
 You're staring right through
 Like my heart is made of glass
 But what am I to you?
 Some clown who makes you laugh
 Can't you see this is flesh & bone
 Though my heart is made of clay
 As sure as I'm alone
 I'm just one look away
 I've renamed this earth
 In search of "deeper" things
 Always hoping for a meaning
 For the peace that wisdom brings
 No sun so hot
 No mountain of ice so cold
 No distant faith or dream
 Can ever fill the hole
 It's always been right here
 All the reason that I need
 You thawed this frozen heart of mine
 When you caused the rock to bleed
 But will you tell me what good is love
 If I can't even say the word
 Without it life is mute
 Like a song that goes unheard
 And you're staring right through
 Like my heart is made of glass
 Is that all I am to you?

 You could shape these hands of stone
