You leaned out the window and fell to the ground
 With your face in the mud, what a mess
 You looked like a comedy actor
 Who showed me your funniest move and I guess
 That because you got by it was okay that I
 Was laughing so I cried
 Though I was relived you didn't die
 Catherine and I were about to go out
 But I didn't have time to prepare
 I put on my bathrobe and old rubber boots
 When I couldn't find something to wear
 Even though she was embarrassed by me
 She was laughing when I said
 "I don't understand why people stare"
 Memories I think about
 When I'm on my own
 Time apart or a distance
 Will not take them away
 Could not forget em even if I tried
 The restaurant cost was expensive for us
 We were young so we thought of a way
 We pretended to be from a food magazine
 Then we ate without having to pay
 We smiled when we chewed we will send the review
 We said before we left
 Still feel a little bad for them today
 I remember a kiss in the old backyard
 You were smiling and held me close
 I was just seventeen with no self-esteem
 But I was the one that you chose
 You said "well you are not the most handsome and tall
 But for me that isn't all
 I really like the way that you compose"
 Memories I think about
 When I'm far from home
