Leaving The Ground

And I was feeling just a bit beat down and so I started
 on the sidewalks of this lonely town
 And I wonder if it's just me or if the city's getting
 colder and the street light's getting bolder and
 I'm cuttin corners even (know months straight) and
 I was so close behind you but I guess you couldn't wait
 And I wondered why the hell I didn't see you coming
 sooner so I could pick it or lose it

 I'm leaning on a shoulder even though there's no one around.
 And I was feeling like a million bucks and so I started
 for the pennies just to test my luck and I wonder why
 I bother these problems when I know I won't solve them and
 I was thinkin in case the times get mean that I should
 keep my bags packed and keep my records clean.
 But i wonder how the hell I'm gonna keep on going
 (anew) when there's (light and it's done)
