he stood staring at his father who was 85 years old
 and he remembered all the balsams they played so long ago
 so he put his arms around him and kissed him on the cheek
 he said, dad it's time i told you what a friend you've been to me

 i can't understand what makes us think
 out hearts and minds can be read

 she stood in the kitchen doorway all grown up with children too
 watching as her mom cooked just like she used to do
 so she slowly walked up to her and held her wrinkled hands
 she said mom, you're the greatest mom a daughter ever had
