Light, Raking

an apparition or whatever you call it
 a spectrum waves his wand
 and the leaves start falling
 a white wall of cocoons on display
 that moment makes you sad all day
 then sacredly (?) I'm burning that's burning you know
 but then you never really tried to step away from the shadow
 the ebb and the flow, the wax, the wane
 from a blister to the callous, the pleasure to the pain
 I put a moonbeam under my shoe
 and crack it like a nut to release all the power
 I like to dream what else can I do
 a blessing and a curse
 open up like a flower
 always a light, raking through the summer sky
 and it's more than just a general feeling for the first time
 a dirty penny in my pocket for luck

 thrown it back in the fountain
 it's no joke when you're chasing a bus
 growing older in a college town??? another form of control
