Dusk of Dawn

We flew through the delta on a storm of bees
 carrying only dust and weeds
 at both ends of the crossroad the devil awaited
 should we kneel
 We got dismissed for the next soul in line
 seems time is on our side
 we rambled on, in search of something
 to call our own
 We pushed on through to the river of dreams
 those muddy waters they're deep
 it lead us on to the desert that
 never sleeps
 Can you hear the wind howling at your door
 like it did so many times before
 Far up in the distance, as the clouds slowly part
 a moonlight kingdom appeared
 we arrived at dawn, secretly
 still highway bound
 Seems they're, sworn into safety, by an ancient queen
 and they have all they'll ever need
 still, their sense of life
 is running out
 Can you hear the wind howling at your door
 like it did so many times before
 here at the Dusk of Dawn
 Going up strong against the barrier of youth
 it proved both high and steep
 still waiting in line, for the blue light to shine on through
 Still in search of, the frailty, known only by those
 who does not speak of it
 they called us plenty, then left us here with our needs
 guess somewhere further down below
 the truth eventually shows
