I think it was better that-
It wasn't really, relief's not quite the right word because
What was nice about that, I mean, we really hadn't had much of a conversation about
How we're going to go about, you know, bass duties for this record
You know, we just kind of, I think, you know, we didn't really talk about that much
Even when we were touring on the back of the last record
We kind of, maybe, hearing there loosely, but we never made it like a plan or like
This is the way we should go about it, we could try these five options
So it was really, the fact that it really did come up in a really organic way
And the first time we actually even discussed that possibility was
Day one or day two of playing together, and then by day three, by the end of day three
We had made such headway with, you know, a couple of the songs on the record now
That it just felt more like exciting
More than really felt like, oh man, and it was better than exciting in the sense that it's
It's one thing if you're like, you know, you talk about, hey, maybe, you know
Paul can do, we can, you know, we can start a Paul playing bass
While you're still on the road and then you won't actually get together in a room
Until six months later, but you have this plan in your head the whole time
It was nicer in the sense that it was like one day Paul mentioned, hey, maybe I'll bring a bass tomorrow
Then by the end of like, you know, 24 hours later, great headway had been made with these songs
And there's like, I don't know, music kind of speaks for itself
So excited, you know, like it comes from that
When you, when you have like a really good rehearsal and you make great headway of a song
And you leave that rehearsal for a bit of a bounce in your step
Those are, you know, from day one of this band to me
It's like when you leave rehearsal and like a song is taken a turn for the better
Or you know, maybe went down one way and now went this way, or
You know, you saw a new song came out of nowhere
Those are, those are like the drug kind of moments, those are moments where you're like kind of high
And you'll leave like super excited, you can't wait 'til the next day
And so, I think it was more about for me, it wasn't relief as much as I was just super excited
And then, the fact that he just kept, you know, we kept with this path
And he kept coming up with like killer bass lines throughout the whole process
It became apparent
We didn't really talk about, okay, you know, after that first rehearsal, it wasn't like
Now we got a plan, we just kept everything open 'til the very end
And it just became very clear that he was killing it
And the songs were, you know, were the better because of this and, you know, why mess with it?
We did, but I mean, we did track together bass and drums
But we kind of prioritize, I don't think we kept any of my base takes
It's sort of if Sam got a great take
You know, we would we would play live to get the feel
But we were really trying to capture the drum first and foremost
