February/Stars

February, here we are again
 Tired of chasing, running, following
 All of the dust and dirt and light explode into the dawn
 If arms and legs have anything to say
 Of missing hours on boardwalks out to the middle of the sky
 There is an earthly myth we took to get here by
 February, here we are again
 Tired of chasing, running into the weather and wind
 There is an ochre morning star above
 There is a place to stop and rest and finally be done
 Galaxy
 Ever-shiningly
 Looking back into the depths of me
 Empty sea
 It's just you and me
 And we stretch out to infinity
 Gravitate
 Collapse under the weight
 I've been running up and down a dark staircase
 And suddenly
 Stars are under me
 All the dust and dirt and light are circling
 Time will see
 Every tide recede
 And I'm no one if ever I was me
 End scene
 It's just you and me
 Only waves and insects in the breeze
